I had always wanted to run a food truck, even before a food truck was a cool thing to do. I had no idea where to start and had no business inclination whatsoever, so I had a lot of work ahead of me if I really wanted to make this happen. It was time to get to work.
The business would obviously revolve around food, so that’s where I chose to start. I researched other food trucks’ menus to get an idea of what was actually feasible in this situation. It was clear to me that space would obviously be limited in a food truck, so the preparation would have to take place elsewhere.Â
I reached out to a friend who was business savvy, to see if she was interested in partnering up on something like this. I really just needed her to handle the business end of things and I would handle the rest. She was in, and I was so excited to get going.Â
My holy grail of tools was going to be my Cuisinart food processor. It would be the easiest way to prepare the food. I came up with a handful of recipes that I wanted to incorporate and decided to test them out. The initial menu consisted of a traditional burger, mini calzones with either a watercress pesto or marinara, ricotta latkes, and edamame dumplings.Â
If I was making these in large batches, I would need reinforcements. I visited KitchenWorksUSA, where they have the Cuisinart DLC-8 4-Piece Tritan Bowl Kit Part,
to make the process of switching things over more smoothly. I wouldn’t have to worry about washing everything before being able to use the machine again. This was a better idea than I had even imagined.
I used the Cuisinart food processor to make the ground beef for the burgers, to shred the potatoes for the latkes, to make the dough and combine the cheeses for the calzones, and to make the marinara and the watercress pesto. Having extra work bowls was a godsend, as I didn’t have to worry about grinding raw meat and making sure I cleaned the bowl thoroughly enough to contaminate anything else.Â
I tried the recipes on friends (but most importantly my business savvy friend), and my family, and they were all hits. This was the reassurance that I needed before taking the plunge to actually go ahead and get myself a food truck. I knew it would be a long journey that would include nights and weekends until I was doing well enough to focus on it full time, but I also knew it would be well worth it once I was able to make that a reality. I am so thankful and it never would have happened without my Cuisinart food processor.
