Are you having problems with photo organization?
The world uploads over 1.8 billion digital images each day. Regardless of your behavior, you are likely contributing to this figure. Sometimes, you will keep backup copies of your photos on your MacBook.
However, as time passes, you will end up having a disorganized collection. It is difficult to track every image when you lack organizational skills.
In this guide, we will give some MacBook tips to organize photos. Read on and learn more:
- Set Up Folders
Depending on how many photos you take, your collections can get out of hand in a flash. The good news is you can set up folders in Apple Photos and develop a sorting system. To start, click on File and select New Folder.
Albums and folders seem interchangeable in Apple Photos. However, there is a difference between these concepts. The former allows you to organize photos and videos, while the latter is for arranging albums.
Folders can have nested folders and albums within. However, the same does not apply to albums. It is what makes the folder structure more versatile when managing collections revolving around specific themes.
For example, you have a separate album for each family trip. The best way to achieve MacBook organization is to bring everything under a single Family Vacations folder.
Another option is to get a photo manager for Mac. Click on the linked guide to choose one soon.
- Tag People
An easier way to organize photos is to isolate images of specific people. The Photos app allows you to tag individuals in photos.
The app will automatically scan faces showing up in your photos. It then collects them in the People section. When double-clicking on a face, it will display image files with a match.
Click on the Name option after hovering over a face. After tagging people with this method, you can type their names in the search box to look for their images.
- Add Location Data
Americans treat themselves to three vacations each year. You will likely take photos and store them on your Mac. A great way of organizing these images is using their locations.
Every photo with an assigned location will show up on the Places section of your Apple Photos sidebar. The app presents them in an interactive map. Click on the thumbnail appearing on a specific location to get a grid view of the photos.
Not all photos have location information. When it happens, add the details manually. Open an image and click on the Info icon. It is on the primary toolbar located at the top.
Here, a popup window will appear with the image’s information. Choose the Assign a Location placeholder at the bottom.
Organize Photos on Your MacBook Now
These are some ways to organize photos on your Mac. Use these to ensure your images are easy to find whenever necessary. However, it’s better to arrange all your Macbook files instead.
